Additional Information | According to the Syracuse Journal, on Thursday February 9, 1928, Don Alvin and his merry mad gang were “Now Playing” at the Empire Theatre. Additionally, the Syracuse Journal explained that on Saturday “Don Alvin and his Merry Mad Gang start on a . . . tour of the World on the Steamship Syncopation.” Unable to reveal additional information regarding Don Alvin and his merry mad gang one can assume that the act was Vaudevillian. Vaudeville was a genre of theatrical performance popular in the United States from the 1880s until the early 1930s. These performances often included a variety of unrelated acts ranging from classical music to juggling, and movies to trained animals. Don Alvin appeared in Syracuse with the Hollywood Studio Orchestra and “The Valley of the Giants” with Milton Stills. Perhaps Don Alvin appeared in Bradford Connecticut while on his “world tour” hence a button displaying this information. |
