Information

This button sold in Hake's auction #189 for $1,500.

2-1/8" complete with W&H backpaper. Design features factory buildings with flames and smoke pouring from smokestacks all against image of a working man's dinner pail. Text is "Do You Smoke? Yes - Since 1896! That's What McKinley Promised." Celluloid surface has very tiny and trivial raised bumps that just catch reflected light. Tiny 1" area on bottom edge of pail with trace of tan age tone. A few tiny hairline scratches show only in reflected light. Reverse has two tiny 1/16" cello splits by collet that barely show. All defects are of very minor nature. On the plus side, perfect centering, high gloss and intense color.
