Additional Information

The New York Mets were founded in 1962 to replace the departed New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers. Their logo is made of the primary colors of the departing teams, Dodger blue and Giants orange. Based out of Queens, New York they did not get a proper stadium until 1964 when Shea Stadium was constructed.

The 1962 inaugural season broke records for the worst season in Major League Baseball since the 1962 game season was started. With a record of 40-120 (2 games were canceled) the Mets were in the bottom two every season until 1969 when they won the world series against the Baltimore Orioles (4-1), winning the name "Miracle Mets". This victory is considered one of the biggest upsets in baseball history. The 1969 season was the first season the Mets posted a winning record.

The logo of the Mets has stayed much the same since their beginning, only slightly changing in shades of color.
