Additional Information

Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew were presidential running mates representing the Republican Party in the 1968 and 1972 general U.S. elections. Richard Nixon served as President from 1969 until he resigned in 1974 before facing impeachment and removal from office after the Watergate scandal. Spiro Agnew resigned as Vice President in 1973 after pleading no contest to tax evasion. Nixon was the first President to resign from the position and Agnew was the second Vice President to resign from office after John C. Calhoun in 1932.
