Additional Information

Tim’s store was a clothing store that specialized in boys clothing. As a way of drawing in customers Tim’s store also created clubs, magazines, and other advertising tricks that appealed to young men. On September 10, 1926, in the Lawrence Journal-World, there is an advertisement for Tim’s Store and the Pie-Eaters’ Club. The advertisement explains that the Pie-Eaters’ Club is going to gain a lot more members and that “the first, second, third and fourth degree Pie-Eaters are going to be advanced a degree when they buy their new school suits.” (pg. 3). Some of the clothing items that are being marketed to the young men are school shirts that are just like men’s shirts and all-wool sweaters with “man-sized collars.” Don’t forget to purchase the “New Official Cap for Pie-Eaters” this hat will help protect your head from the September sunshine.
