Additional Information

Williamsburg, Virginia was founded in 1632 as the capitol of the Colony of Virginia, one of the original settlements in what would become the United States of America. It functions as an independent city but is best known for hosting Colonial Williamsburg, the restored historic parts of the original city. The Governor's Palace, featured on this button, was originally constructed in part in 1781, but was soon destroyed by a fire. It was rebuilt in 1931 and remains a staple of Colonial Williamsburg.
