Additional Information | Tino De Ocampo (also spelled Deocampo), a Miwok Native American, was tried for the murder of a white man in the 1970s. A grand jury refused to indict him, but the district attorney prosecuted him anyway. The trial lasted more than two weeks, and the jury acquitted him. De Ocampo was supported through the process by the American Indian Movement. |
