The flag is a resemblance to the flag of Ohio, and this button is likely referring to Congressman Paul E. Gillmor. For 22 years, Gillmor served in the Ohio Senate, including his five terms as the Republican leader and the Senate president for three general assemblies. In January 1989, Gillmor was sworn into the U.S. House of Representatives to represent the people of the Fifth Congressional District of Ohio. Other notable services include serving as the vice president of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in 2006, the deputy minority whip for the 110th Congress, and the U.S. Air Force veteran during the Vietnam Conflict from 1965 to 1966. Gillmor also received numerous awards for his accomplishments, including saving more than 1,000 jobs at the Toledo Air National Guard Base in 2006 and becoming one of the ten most outstanding legislators in the United States by the National Republican Legislators Association. This button may be worn to support Gillmor, as he was unanimously elected to represent Ohio’s Republican leader and the vice president of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
