Summer is the perfect time for kids to brush up on their literacy skills as it is estimated that in the U.S. only one out of every three-fourth graders are reading at a proficient level. The Association for Library Service to Children (ALASC) promotes summer reading by encouraging kids from early literacy to young adults (YA) to pick a good book while they’re out of school for the summer.
