Old Crow was originally founded by James C. Crow, a Scottish immigrant, in Frankfort, Kentucky. The brand is now owned by Beam Suntory, a subsidiary of Suntory Holdings. Originally a separate recipe, it now has the same recipe as Jim Beam bourbon but is aged for a shorter period of time and has a lower proof. There are many references to Old Crow bourbon in pop culture and it was reportedly a favorite bourbon of Mark Twain and Hunter S. Thompson.
