Sam Shaheen immigrated from Lebanon to Louisville, KY, and bought a dry goods business that by 1922 had grown into Shaheen’s Department Store. By the late 1950s, the store was specializing in school uniforms. Today, it services more than 300 schools in Kentucky, Indiana, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Tennessee. There are three stores in the Louisville, KY area, all family owned and operated. The stores carry schoolwear, workwear and chefwear.
