Additional Information:

On June 10, 1971, the National Women's Political Caucus was founded by Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan, Bella Azbug, Shirley Chisholm, and Mildred McWilliams, among others. One of its slogans focused on a woman's role to "make policy, not coffee." The purpose of the NWPC is to encourage women to take a more active role in politics and to increase the number of female judges, officials, senators, governors, etc.
