Additional Information | 38 Special is an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1974, by neighborhood friends Don Barnes and Donnie Van Zant. Special Delivery, released in 1978, was the band's second studio album. In addition to Barnes and Van Zant, the record featured Steve Brookins and Jack Grondin on drums, Larry Junstrom on bass guitar, Jeff Carlisi on slide and steel guitar, and Terry Emery on piano. 38 Special's first two albums had a strong southern rock sound, and they later shifted into an arena rock style. The band had several number one hit songs in the 1980s, and has toured with Lynyrd Skynyrd, REO Speedwagon, Styx and Hank Williams, Jr. The band is still touring, but Don Barnes is the only original member remaining. |
