Additional Information | In recent years, commuting by bike has markedly increased in the United States. Between 2004 and 2014, the number of individuals who bike to work have risen by more than 60 percent from 488,000 to 786,000. Though this accounts for roughly 0.6 percent of all U.S. commuters, some major U.S. cities like Portland and Seattle have seen a greater increase. Both locations have put “bike share programs, bike lanes, and pedestrian-friendly streets” in place to support bike commuters. According to the U.S. Census, the average commuting time via bicycle is 19.3 minutes, and men are more likely to commute by bike than women. Established in 1881, Geo. Lauterer Corporation has been headquartered in downtown Chicago for more than 125 years. They specialize in producing custom-made badges, awards, and regalia. The business continues to be in operation and currently employees a staff of 25 members. |
