Additional Information | Billy Idol is a British rock musician. Born William Michael Albert Broad in 1955 in Middlesex, England, he apparently came up with the name Billy Idol because his school teachers would describe him as being idle. Early in his career, Idol was the lead singer of the band Generation X, who featured in Lech Kowalski's 1980 rockumentary film D.O.A.: A Rite of Passage. After 3 albums the band split and Idol launched a successful solo career, working with ex-Kiss manager, Bill Aucoin. Between 1982 and 2006 he released 7 studio albums and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance in 1985, 1987 and 1991. |
