Additional Information | Buzby was created as part of a marketing campaign for Post Office Telecommunications, and appeared in television commericals starting in 1976. During the 1970's, the Post Office was undergoing great expansion and modernization with advances in technology allowing for British citizens to dial most of the world directly by the end of the decade. Buzby and his tagline, "Make someone happy with a phonecall," appeared on toys, buttons, and a comic strip. He was voiced by Bernard Cribbins, a prolific UK comedy and voice actor known for his rolls in Fawlty Towers and Doctor Who. |
