The original show lasted three seasons and spawned many other television series, movies, and books. James T. Kirk is the captain of USS starship Enterprise. Captain Kirk was a charismatic leader and pioneer of space exploration who sought out new civilizations. Kirk became Starfleet's youngest captain when he received command of the USS Enterprise for a five-year mission. Starfleet is a deep-space exploratory, peacekeeping, and military service maintained by the United Federation of Planets in the fictional universe of Star Trek. |
