After being signed to Elektra Records in 1977, band members Ric Ocasek, Benjamin Orr, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes, and David Robinson released their debut album The Cars the following year. The Cars included such songs as "Just What I Needed" and "My Best Friend's Girlfriend" and soared to number 18 on the Billboard charts, going platinum in 1978. |
