Additional Information | This is a piece of semi-joking campaign material supporting Stephen Colbert, the former host of Comedy Central's The Colbert Report, a satirical news program, as a candidate for the presidency of the United States in 2008. Colbert did in fact declare his candidacy for president in 2007; although he was voted down by the Democratic Party, he used the media attention to raise funds for underserved schools in his home state of South Carolina. Taking on the persona of a conservative pundit on his show, Colbert presented commentary on current events and also interviewed a wide range of celebrity guests. In 2014, he was named the successor to David Letterman on CBS' the Late Show. |
