Additional Information | Fritz the Cat is a comic strip starring the title character, Fritz, a con artist college student cat created by Robert Crumb. The comic first appeared in Help! and Cavalier magazines in 1965, gaining attention amongst other underground comics. The comic was eventually adapted into a 1972 animated film, becoming the first of its kind to garner an X rating in the United States. After disagreements with the filmmakers, Crumb ended the strip that same year by publishing a story where Fritz is murdered by his ex-girlfriend. |
