Additional Information | The image of Belinda Carlisle, lead singer of The Go-Go's, with a facemask and towel wrapped around her head was adapted from the cover of their debut album, "Beauty and the Beat," in 1981. It featured hit singles like "We Got the Beat" and "Our Lips Are Sealed." In 1978, the Go-Go's were one of the first female bands to write, produce, and play their own songs, which were a mix of pop, punk, and rock. After battling a 30-year cocaine addiction, Belinda Carlisle is now a vegetarian and proponent of animal rights. Carlisle went on to record several more albums and is still active in music as of 2024. |
