Additional Information

The image of Kathy Valentine, bass guitarist of The Go-Go's, with a facemask and towel wrapped around her head was adapted from the cover of their debut album, "Beauty and the Beat," in 1981. It featured hit singles like "We Got the Beat" and "Our Lips Are Sealed."

In 1978, the Go-Go's were one of the first female bands to write, produce, and play their own songs, which were a mix of pop, punk, and rock. During her years with the band, Kathy Valentine co-wrote "Vacation", "Head Over Heels", and "The Whole World Lost Its Head." Valentine sued the band in 2013 over benefits and revenue. She had stints with the Delphines and the Bluebonnets. Valentine rejoined the Go-Go's and toured with them in 2018. In 2020, Valentine published her memoir All I Ever Wanted.
