Additional Information | Groundhog day is a popular Pennsylvania Dutch supersition that has evolved into a tradition celebrated in the United States and Canada in February. Whether or not a groundhog sees his shadow is supposedly indicative of the duration of winter and the coming of spring. In the United States, the most famous groundhog for this tradition is Punxsutawney Phil, a groundhog from Punxsutawney, Philadelphia. Punxsutawney was the hometown of the first newspaper to publish an article on groundhog day and has the largest attendance for the event. |
