Additional Information | Reverend Jesse Jackson ran in the 1988 presidential election as a Democratic nominee. His campaign focused on a liberal platform, as he claimed he wanted to create equal opportunities for various minority groups, reprioritize the war on drugs, reverse Reagan tax laws, and provide reparations to descendants of black slaves. Although Jackson was nominated by the Democratic party, he did not receive enough votes in the Primaries, and was defeated by Michael Dukakis, who received the official nomination. |
