Eisenhower, served two terms as President of the United States, from 1953 to 1957, and from 1957 to 1961.He defeated Illinois Democrat Adlai Stevenson in both the first and second term. During his presidency, he resumed the operations of New Deal agencies and broadened Social Security, an act which was originated during the Roosevelt administration.
