"I Like Ike" was part of Dwight D. Eisenhower's 1952 republican campaign for president against the incumbent Democrat Adlai Stevenson. Ike was the nickname which he received as a child, and it was an abbreviation of his last name. As the 34th president of the United States, Eisenhower's platform was known for expanding social security, creating the interstate Highway system, and signing the Civil Rights Act into law.
