Additional Information | The March of Dimes Foundation is a United States nonprofit organization that works to improve the health of mothers and babies. It was founded by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1938 to combat polio. The organization was called the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. But in 1976, the foundation became the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation and changed to promoting general health for pregnant women and babies. In 2007, the foundation became what it is known as today, the March of Dimes Foundation. |
