Additional Information | In 1758, before Mexico was an independent republic, Jose Antonio de Cuervo y Valdes started producing tequila after obtaining land from the King of Spain. His son, Jose María Guadalupe de Cuervo, began selling that tequila in 1795 and the company is still family owned. Tequila is made from blue agave plants and can only be produced in Mexico. Jose Cuervo is the best-selling tequila brand in the world and encompasses eleven different types of tequila. Popular cocktails made with the spirit include margaritas, palomas, sangria, and piña coladas. |
