Additional Information | Chevrolet’s 1975 commercial ad campaign praised, “Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet.” The jingle was written by Ed Labunski and went on to inspire several more commercials. The enduring success of the campaign prompted Chevy to re-record the commercial in 2006, modernizing the line to, “Stolen Bases, Goat Cheese Pizza, Bottled Water and Chevrolet." A back and forth series of tributes to the campaign followed. A General Motors subsidiary recorded their own version. In Australia, the Holden Car company popularized the slogan, “Football, Meat Pies, Kangaroos and Holden Cars.” In South Africa, where Chevys were designed based on Holden Cars, the campaign extolled “Braaivleis, Rugby, Sunny Skies and Chevrolet” (Braaivleis is Afrikaans for grilled meat). |
