The official flag of the People’s Republic of China consists of a large star in the top left corner with 4 starts to the right of it.  The color red represents the communist revolution and the stars represent the unity of the Chinese people under the Communist Party of China.  A flag was commissioned by the Preparatory Committee of the New Political Consultative Conference and designs were submitted by Chinese citizens.  On September 29th the new flag was unveiled after the committee chose Zeng Liansong’s design with a few modifications.
