Additional Information | Pierre “Pete” Samuel du Pont IV was an American Republican politician. From 1971 to 1977, he served as the United States Representative after defeating incumbent John D. Daniello. He later when on to serve as the Governor of Delaware from 1977 to 1985 after defeating incumbent Sherman W. Tribbitt. In office as governor, his platform was known for reducing income taxes, limiting government spending and restraining future tax increases. He also founded a non-profit which provided high school seniors not bound for college job placement and employment counseling. |
