Pierre “Pete” Samuel du Pont IV was an American Republican politician from Delaware. From 1971 to 1977, he served in the United States House of Representatives and was the Governor of Delaware from 1977 to 1985. As governor, his platform was known for lowering income taxes, reducing government spending, and limiting tax hikes. He also founded a non-profit which provided high school seniors not bound for college job placement and employment counseling.
