Additional Information | During the 1976 U.S. presidential election, Willie Mae Reid, a Black Chicago politician, became the appointed vice presidential candidate for the Socialist Workers Party. A year prior to her nomination, she ran for Mayor of Chicago and lost to Richard J. Daley. Reid's political career did not cede until 1992 when she reran for the U.S. vice presidency under the Socialist Workers Party. |
