Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was released by Walt Disney Pictures in 1937. It was a hugely successful movie and earned eight million dollars in its first year. The film had a budget of 1.5 million, making it very profitable. In 1994, as part of “The Masterpiece Collection,” Disney started to release its classic films on VHS, the predominant home viewing platform of the time. Snow White’s release date was October 28, 1994, and was widely promoted by the company. Disney films experience limited release from "the vault" and are not always readily available for purchase. As of 2021, this process continues with certain films being selected for release to print as well as streaming, however, many Disney films are available to stream through their Disney Plus online service.
