Additional Information | Unofficially starting in 1816, The Kentucky State Fair appeared annually to mark a place to bring wares and show off animals in the state. The first officially marked date of the Kentucky State Fair is 1902. It was one of the oldest state fairs in the United States and frequently sees hundreds of thousands of guests every year. Since its official start date, the fair has only been canceled three times, once in 1904 when a lawsuit tied up funds that would have gone to the fair. It was also canceled in 1942 and 1943 due to World War II and many fairgrounds being co-opted for the war effort. |
