Additional Information | Following the 2013 murder of 18-year old Hadiya Pendleton in Chicago, the Pendleton family asked that activists wear orange to raise awareness of gun violence. In subsequent years, orange became the color of National Gun Violence Awareness Day in June, and is widely recognized as the color of the gun control movement. The nonprofit group Everytown for Gun Safety sells merchandise with the slogan "wear orange" to finance their work towards building awareness and passing legislation to regulate gun sales and use in America. |
