| Additional Information | John B. Anderson’s was a 1980 Republican candidate for the President of the United States. Anderson is from Rockford, Illinois, and is a World War II veteran who served ten years as a GOP congressman before his presidential run. He later ran an independent campaign against the incumbent Democratic President Jimmy Carter and Republican Ronald Reagan. Anderson received 7 percent of the national vote and came third, while Reagan defeated Carter in a landslide. |
