Additional Information

Wonder Woman is a superheroine character published by DC Comics. She was created by psychologist William Moulton Marston and first appeared in All Star Comics #8 in January 1942. The Wonder Woman title has been published continuously by DC except for a brief hiatus in 1986. She was premiered during World War II and was initially depicted fighting Axis military forces and various supervillians. She has been a key character in storylines featuring teams such as the Justice Society and the Justice League. She has transitioned into other media as well, including a live-action television series from 1975-1979 and appearances on cartoon series. She is featured in a variety of toys and merchandise. Wonder Woman is a warrior princess of the Amazons, and her depiction as a heroine fighting for justice, love, peace, and gender equality has led to her being widely considered a feminist icon. Wonder Woman was named the 20th greatest comic book character by Empire magazine, and in May 2011, was named fifth on IGN'S Top 100 Comic Book Heroes of All Time.
