Additional Information | Located in New York's Hudson Highlands, Bear Mountain is a well-known peak overlooking the Hudson River. Historically known as "Bear Hill" and "Bread Tray Mountain," Bear Mountain rises to an approximate height of 1,000 feet, offering views as far as Manhattan. At one time, Bear Mountain was even considered the premier ski jumping site in the United States. Bear Mountain lends its name to the Palisades Interstate Park Commission-run Bear Mountain State Park, the 5,205-acre state park in which it is contained. |
