His first appearance was on November 10, 1969 and was performed by Caroll Spinney until Matt Vogel took the role in 1998. Big Bird is a multi-talented 8’2 yellow canary. He lives in a large nest and has a teddy bear. In 2000 Big Bird was named a Living Legend by the United States Library of Congress. |
