The City History Club of New York was a young people’s civic alliance that was founded in 1896. Through study of the history of the city, the club aimed to promote an awareness and interest in the history of neighborhoods, landmarks, and opportunities. Members learned governmental organizational skills, provided guided excursions, rented out slides and lecturers, and sold historical publications and illustrations.
