Flu, or influenza is a viral infection of the respiratory system. Vaccines every year can protect one against the flu. Other protective actions are hand-washing, covering coughs, and staying home when sick. Since the 1930s, when the flu vaccination was originally developed and administered to soldiers in the US miliary, widespread vaccination has been the best way to both prevent individual illness and keep spread of the virus in check. Government, non-for-profit, and private health organizations worldwide distribute flu vaccines to fight the flu and nurture healthy communities. |
