Additional Information | Student governments are ubiquitous in educational institutions around the world, and have a variety of purposes, though in most cases in the United States the purpose of the student government is to generally represent the interests and concerns of the student body. Representatives are generally elected to positions on this council, serving on committees and planning campus-wide events. Many higher education institutions have student governments set up similar to the federal government with a judicial branch, representatives of each organization or club, often including separate lower models for residence hall associations, black student organizations, and/or Hellenic council/Greek organizations, and senate to help make balanced decisions about the campus. |
