Additional Information | Meet "Punchy," the famed mascot for Hawaiian Punch. The character was created by the advertising agency Altherton-Privett in December 1961, and artist Martin Mandelblatt is credited the mascot's design. "Punchy" eventually made it onto the silver screen as a cartoon character in February 1962. Hawaiian Punch was originally created in 1934 by A.W. Leo, Tom Yates, and Ralph Harrison as an ice cream topping in a converted garage in Fullerton, California. Oddly enough, it was discovered by customers that it made a great tasting fruit juice when mixed with water. The original Hawaiian Punch had been concocted using seven fruit flavors: apple, apricot, guava, orange, papaya, passion fruit, and pineapple. As it stands now, Hawaiian Punch only contains 5% fruit juice. |
