The William Wrigley Jr. Company was founded in Chicago in 1891. Originally its main products were baking powder and soap. After the company started to distribute chewing gum along with the baking powder in 1892, it soon became more popular than the powder itself. The company thus reorganized to focus primarily on the manufacturing and distribution of chewing gum. The spearmint flavor shown in this button is the company's longest-running, most popular, and well-recognized. Other chewing gum products include Juicy Fruit, Doublemint, and Big Red, in addition to other popular candies such as Skittles, Starburst, and Life Savers. Home of the Chicago Cubs, Wrigley Field, is named after the company.
