Additional Information | The Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. is an organization founded over 100 years ago by the original troop leader, Juliette Gordon “Daisy” Low. Juliette, known as “Daisy” by her friends and family, gathered 18 girls in her hometown of Savannah, Georgia, on March 12, 1912, for the very Girl Scout troop. Juliette established the organization with the goal of preparing girls to meet the world with courage, confidence, and character, a mission that continues to this very day. The Girl Scouts have turned into a global organization, united across distance and decades through lifelong friendships, shared adventures and the desire to do good in the world. One of the many traditions continuing to this day is the Girl Scout SWAPS, the tradition of Girl Scouts exchanging keepsakes, a way for Girl Scouts to meet one another and promote friendship. |
