| Additional Information | Charles Wayland Brooks (1897-1957) was a United States senator from Illinois. Brooks was elected in 1940 to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Senator J. Hamilton Lewis, and was re-elected in 1942. After an unsuccessful bid for re-election in 1948, he practiced law until his death. Brooks also served as a first lieutenant in the Marines during World War I. |
