Additional Information | The Illinois Republic State Convention has been an annual event for the Illinois Republican Party since 1894, when it was first held in Decatur, Illinois. Party members from across the state meet at the convention to discuss and debate issues the party and state are facing, present and vote on motions, and select delegates for the Republican National Convention. The Convention is always open to the public, but committees are formed to judge and vote on larger issues. Illinois Republic Party. (2017). Bylaws of the Illinois Republican Party.
