Additional Information | In December 1974, Jimmy Carter announced his candidacy for President of the United States. His campaign included themes of domestic inequality, optimism, and change. The campaign’s colors of green and white were a departure from the traditional red, white and blue and signified Carter’s background as a peanut farmer. Carter secured the democratic nomination and would eventually win the 1976 election to become the 39th President of the United States defeating Gerald Ford. |
