Additional Information | Star Trek is science fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry. Star Trek aired on NBC from September 8, 1966 to June 3, 1969. The show follows the crew of the starship USS Enterprise as they explore space and “boldly go where no man has gone before". The show takes place in the 23rd century in the Milky Way Galaxy. The original show lasted three seasons and spawned many other television series, movies, and books. James T. Kirk, orginally played by William Shatner, is the captain of USS starship Enterprise. Leonard H. McCoy, portrayed DeForest Kelley, is chief medical officer of the USS Enterprise. McCoy’s nickname, “Bones”, was given to him by Captain Kirk. McCoy was said to play the role of Captain Kirk's conscience which offered a counterpoint to Spock's logic. |
