Provincetown, Massachusetts is a seaside town at the tip of Cape Cod. In 1620, pilgrims on the Mayflower Compact first arrived at Provincetown before settling in Plymouth. During the American Revolution, the town became occupied by the British. After the revolution, Provincetown became a center for fishing and whaling. During the 1890s, artists and writers were attracted to Provincetown and began to settle in the area. Provincetown is also a historic LGBTQ+ vacation destination.
